From the Richmond Dispatch, 11/2/1860, p. 1, c. 7

The Steam Fire Engine, which has been exhibited at the Mechanics’ Institute, is now the property of the city, and will henceforth occupy the house prepared for its reception on 3d street. Whenever the bells sound an alarm the horses will be attached to the machine, which, in a few minutes afterwards, will be ready to pour a deluge of water upon the fire, wherever it may break out. Progress has been the order of the day in Richmond of late years.
