From the Richmond Dispatch, 11/11/1861, p. 2, c. 5

The Recent Shooting Affair. – Hugh McGinley, who, according to the verdict of the Coroner’s jury, accidentally shot and killed Patrick Holmes, at the Louisiana Hospital, was still in custody on Saturday. The Mayor considered it a case properly within the jurisdiction of a county magistrate, and the prisoner was sent back to Gen. Winder, with a message to that effect.
