PROVOST MARSHAL’S OFFICE, E. D., THE HON. SECRETARY OF WAR ordered that some deserters, (not aggravated cases,) confined in the prison of this district, should be sent to their regiments, a descriptive list being taken of each man prior to their departure. The men were sent under charge of Lt. Bishop, of the 59th Virginia regiment. Three of these men, regardless of all kindness extended to them, have again deserted. This abuse of a kindness should and will be severely punished. I request that any one who knows of their whereabouts will arrest these parties and bring them before out Commanding General. They are – WM. MOYLE, aged 38, blue eyes, dark hair, light complexion, 5 feet 5 inches high – Co C, 49th N. C. regiment. W. LEWIS, aged 37, gray eyes, dark complexion, 5 feet 11 ˝ inches high – Co. H, Turner’s artillery. ANNASON SHIPLETT, aged 18, black eyes, dark hair, dark complexion, 5 feet 9 inches high – Wyatt’s artillery. G. W. ALEXANDER, no 15 – 1t
