From the Richmond Dispatch, 12/1/1862, p. 1, c. 1CAPTURE OF YANKEES. On Friday morning a detachment of cavalry of Gen. Hampton's brigade, under the immediate command of the General himself, fell upon and completely surprised a picket force of the enemy at Deep Run, in Fauquier county, about ten miles beyond the Rappahannock river. So sudden and expected was the descent upon them that they surrendered without firing a shot. The prisoners, eighty-seven in number, of the 34 regiment Pennsylvania cavalry — consisting of two Captains, three Lieutenants and eighty-two privates — were brought down on the Central train last night, under the charge of Capt. Meaghan, of the 2d South Carolina cavalry, and were lodged in the Libby prison.
