From the Richmond Dispatch, 12/20/1862, p. 2, c. 7

BATTERY NO. 9, RICHMOND DEFENCES,
December 20, 1862.

THE following named privates, transferred from Capt. Kyle’s company to Captain Martin’s (company B, 20th Virginia battalion artillery,) are hereby notified that unless they report in person, or by some army Surgeon’s certificate within 20 days, they will be advertised and treated as deserters – viz:

Wilson Cheatham,        George W. Johnson,
Dr. M. Going                J. W. Jordan,
Geo. W. Going,            Patrick Moughen,
Edward P. Gunter,        Wm. Neighbor,
Thos. R. Hait,               Peter Pankey,
Thomas Johnson

The attention of the enrolling officers of Appomattox and the adjoining counties is called especially to this notice; and they are requested to return these men to their company, and not to enroll them as conscripts.
