From the Richmond Dispatch, 12/23/1862, p. 1, c. 5

Money Recovered from a Corpse. The relatives of one of the gentlemen drowned a few weeks since in the canal, and on whose body an inquest was held, arrived in Richmond yesterday and caused the body to be disinterred under the auspices of the undertaker, when a search of the body was instituted, resulting in the discovery of $91,000, which deceased had on his person when he started from the American Hotel to the depot.
