From the Richmond Dispatch, 12/25/1862, p. 1, c. 4Took the Oath. – F. DeSmith, imprisoned in the Eastern District military prison, some four or five months ago, charged with being a violent Unionist and disloyal to the South was released on yesterday upon taking the oath of allegiance to support the Constitution of the Confederate States.
