From the Richmond Dispatch, 5/27/1862, p. 2, c. 4

Help the Soldiers. Our country friends can contribute to the comfort and health of our sick soldiers by sending to the hospitals their quotas of fresh vegetables. The difficulty of procuring these indispensables is so great that, without the help of voluntary subscriptions, it is feared the sick will linger under the treatment of their nurses.

The ladies of the Henningsen Hospital are unremitting in their attention to the noble fellows under their care. The noble lady who presides over this charitable institution, and whose name it bears, deserves the praise of the patriot for the zeal she has displayed in the service of the helpless, and for the industry so apparent in the cleanliness of the apartments and the order of the arrangements, so necessary to insure the comfort of the invalids.
