From the Richmond Dispatch, 9/27/1862, p. 2, c. 3Discharged. – George T. Twells, formerly a lieutenant in the McCulloch Rangers, was discharged from Castle Thunder yesterday, by order of the Secretary of War, who directed that he should be sent to his regiment. Twells resigned his position as lieutenant in order, as he said, to proceed to Philadelphia to secure some property which would be forfeited if he stayed here. He was arrested a year since for disloyalty, and afterwards, while confined in the county jail, brought his name prominently before the public by trying the virtue of a writ of habeas corpus, and making one or more successful escapes from the institution in which he was confined.
