From the Richmond Dispatch, 9/29/1862, p. 2, c. 5Arrival of Prisoners. - The Central cars yesterday brought to this city nine officers and four hundred and twenty privates of the Yankee army, captured near Shepherdstown, Va., a few days since, when Burnside's division attempted to cross the Potomac at that point and were so mercilessly cut up by Stonewall Jackson's men. We could not learn the names of the officers, though they and the men were part of those who, with 20,000 others, under Burnside, participated in the attack on, and capture of, our forces at Roanoke Island. Included in this number were some of Hawkins's Zouaves. The above party will be sent home in a day or two--as soon as descriptive lists can be made out so as to identify them hereafter should they violate their parole.
