TWO DESERTERS and one
prisoner, from the Federal army below Petersburg, were brought over on yesterday
and lodged in the Libby prison. They were each anxious to take the oath of
allegiance to the Confederate States, and denounced in the strongest terms the
Federal administration and army. One of the deserters says that he is a Southern
man, but was impressed in Maryland and forced into the service.
