DESCENT ON A RUM-SHOP. - The Provost Marshal having
ascertained that there was really such a thing as whiskey in circulation in the
vicinity of the Old Market, detailed a squad, on yesterday, to make a descent.
They struck upon the rum-shop of Michael Leary, opposite the Vegetable Market,
where they “freezed” on to a big demijohn of liquor, took possession of Mike,
and lodged both in the C. S. prison for civilians, but in separate apartments –
a distinction which Mike was unable to appreciate.
