From the Richmond Enquirer, 5/28/1862, p. 1, c. 5
QUICK WORK. – The Virginia Central Railroad Company
commenced on Monday the erection of a temporary railway, between the Central and
Fredericksburg depots, for the purpose of removing their engines to the latter,
and on yesterday had nearly completed the work. The employees engaged in the
undertaking pitched in with an energy which looked as if they had been spoiling
for a job of that kind for some time, and were determined to immortalize their
bone and sinew by an exhibition of alacrity unusual to the sight of the citizens
of Richmond.
