From the Richmond Enquirer, 9/24/1862, p. 1, c. 6

A DAIRY FOR THE SICK AND WOUNDED. Through the kind and active sympathies of several citizens, and the co-operation of a number of liberal country-people, a plan for a hospital dairy has been projected, and as soon as arrangements can be completed, will be carried into operation. In the meantime a considerable number of cows, already contributed will be sent to the city and distributed among the several hospitals. A special car will be run to-morrow, on the Central Railroad, for the purpose of receiving and transporting, free of charge, cows thus contributed along the line of that road. The idea is an excellent one, and merits the warmest encouragement.
