Richmond, Aug 13 1863
I am directed by the General Comdg
to say that he has been informed that the ambulances at Chimborazo and Camp
Winder Hospital are used by the Matrons as pleasure carriages. He directs that
you make enquiry and report of this matter, & if found to be so have it stopped.
The Pay Master at these Hospitals
are drawing forage for the horses, & forage being very scarce, the General
wishes to know if these ambulances cannot be used for carrying the Pay-Masters
and their funds to the Hospitals.
