From the National Archives, RG 109, Ch. 6, Vol. 707-709; “Letters Received and Sent, Chimborazo Hospital. 1861-64.” 3 Vols: Vol. 709, pt. 1, p. 18

Medical Director’s Office,
Richmond, Va. Jany 28th 1864

Sir,

All the sick and wounded from Howard’s Grove and some from Gen. Hos. No. 1, will be sent you. You will keep them in a separate division. The order recently given you in regard to closing Divisions is to this extent modified. There is no probability of the beds, unoccupied after their closures, being needed until April.

Very Res.
