Medical Director’s Office, 1864-65.” p. 103
Medical Director’s
Office, June 1st ‘64
Sir:
You will transfer all
convalescents and slightly wounded at once to the tents sent you, and place
other wounded or more seriously sick in the beds vacated thereby.
If the tents cannot contain them
all let them bivouac around them – the army is now in the immediate vicinity and
Gen. Lee directs that all slightly sick and wounded be at once directed examined
and all those who can bear arms returned to their commands.
A commission from his army is
about visiting the Hos. under your charge to return all improperly absent. Your
prompt action is requested.
Respy &c.
