HONOR WOMAN VETERAN. RICHMOND, Va., Dec. 16. – Announcement was made to-day that Capt. Sallie Tompkins, the only woman commissioned as an officer in the Confederate military service, has been elected a member of Lee Camp, Confederate Veterans. The vote was unanimous. Miss Tompkins established and maintained at her own expense the Robertson Hospital, where 1,300 wounded and sick Confederate soldiers were treated between July 1, 1861, and June 1, 1865. When the Confederate Secretary of War required all military hospitals to be in charge of an army or naval officer, President Davis commissioned Miss Tompkins a Captain of Infantry.
