GEN’L MORGAN. - General
Morgan’s remains reached this city yesterday morning, by the Danville train, and
were escorted to the Capitol by the State Guard and Fire Brigade.
The body, wrapped in a
handsome Confederate flag, laid in the House of Representatives till 1 o’clock
P. M., and was strewn with flowers by the numberless ladies who filled(?) the
Hall. At 1 o’clock it was transferred to a private vault in Hollywood, whither
it was followed by a large turnout of the military, the City Council and other
city authorities, the Kentucky Congressional delegation, and a large procession
of citizens.
The remains of this
distinguished cavalry chieftain will repose at Hollywood until such time as they
can, with safety, be transferred to the soil of his native State, Kentucky.
