From the Richmond Whig, 12/3/1862, p. 2, c. 6
SOLDIER KILLED. - A private of
the 18th Va. Battalion, named B. R. Mintor, was shot by a sentinel yesterday
forenoon, at the Confederate prison, corner of Cary and 6th streets. The rules
forbid the prisoners, (who are mostly deserters) from projecting their heads out
of the windows. Mintor violated this rule, and the sentinel fired at him with
fatal aim, the ball piercing Mintor’s forehead, causing instant death.
