From the Richmond Whig, 1/30/1862, p. 3, c. 3
STRANGE PROPOSITION. - It will
be seen by the Council proceedings, that it is proposed to erect a temporary
warehouse for tobacco, at the “Old Fair Grounds.” We venture to say that the
idea of putting these grounds to any such use was never before thought or
dreamed of as a possible thing by any person under the sun. This is an age of
wonders.
