From the Richmond Whig, 2/17/1862, p. 3, c. 1

FUNERAL OF CAPT. WISE. - The funeral of Capt. O. J. Wise, of the Richmond Blues, took place yesterday forenoon. His body was escorted from the Capitol to St. James’ Church by the honorary and other members of the Blues, the Albemarle Troop, Caskie Rangers, Tredegar Battalion and Public Guard, accompanied by the Armory Band. The funeral services at the church were conducted by Rev. J. L. Peterkin. The remains were conveyed to Hollywood Cemetery for sepulture. The procession - military and civic - was a very long one, despite the unfavorable weather.

In this connection, we may state that, on Saturday, a large number of citizens and soldiers visited the Confederate Senate Chamber, in the Capitol, to view the features of the deceased - the lid having been removed so as expose the face through the glass of the metallic coffin. The countenance, which ever indicated benignity and resolution, had undergone but little change.
