From the Richmond Whig, 1/27/1863, p. 2, c. 1

THE RE-CAPTURE OF THE SPY. – The “spy,” who attempted to escape on Broad street, Saturday, was not re-captured by “boys,” but by a member of Captain J. H. Dillard’s company. One account was that Colonel Alexander’s “big dog” chased the fellow, threw him down, and lacerated his neck before the guard arrived. During the race after the fugitive two of our citizens made a narrow escape. A pistol ball fired at the former passed between them.
