From the Richmond Whig, 10/31/1864, p. 2, c. 5SOLDIER SHOT BY GUARD. - A soldier named Cosby, a member of the 10th Virginia Battalion, Heavy Artillery, was shot and killed instantly yesterday evening on Main street, between 19th and 20th. He was on his way to Castle Thunder in custody of a guard, and in attempting to make his escape from those who had him in charge, was fired upon, with the result above stated.
