From the Richmond Whig, 8/12/1864, p. 1, c. 5
The fine steamer Wm. Allison,
Capt. Gifford, is now making daily trips to and from Drewry's Bluff, and offers
the cheapest and pleasantest conveyance to persons desiring to spend a day in
the country. Captain Gifford has been so long and favorably known on the river
as the Captain of first class passenger boats, that any recommendation of him to
the public is unnecessary.
