From the Richmond Whig, 8/3/1864, p. 2, c. 4PIG IRON THIEF. - Ro. Pierman, a well grown white youth was examined before the Mayor yesterday morning for stealing pig iron from the Tredegar Works, and sent on to the Hustings Court. It seems that Pierman and other vagabonds are in the habit of throwing quantities of the Tredegar iron into the canal during the day, and going into the canal under the pretence of washing at night, and fishing it out. About a hundred weight of stolen iron was found in Pierman's house.
