From the Richmond Whig, 4/14/1865
RAIN. - A continuous soaking rain commenced falling on
Wednesday night, and fell through the greater part of yesterday, rendering the
transaction of out-door business decidedly disagreeable. Business went on with
its wonted briskness though on the part of the sutlers, who are certainly the
most enterprising and go-a-head race we have yet met in Richmond. They are
infusing a new spirit and energy into the business pulse of the community.
About noon there came signs of clearing up on the sky. Good
clear Spring weather would greatly revive the spirits of the people and the
condition of things.
