From the Richmond Whig, 4/19/1865
PICTORIAL HISTORY OF THE WAR. - The distinguished historian
and artist, Benson J. Lossing, has visited Richmond for the purpose of
collecting documentary, pictorial and other materials for his forthcoming
“History of the great Civil War.” - The general plan of this work, we learn,
will be like that of his Pictorial Field Book of the Revolution, so well known
and highly appreciated in every part of the country. It will contain about two
thousand engravings on wood and steel. Mr. Geo. W. Chiles, Chestnut street,
Philadelphia, is the publisher.
