Information about Alexander Hospital in Richmond, VA during the Civil War.

Was opened before June 1862. Its 25 patients were transferred to Castle Godwin on 8 August 1862. Probably a prison hospital. Some where on Franklin Street.

Richmond Dispatch 5/27/1862; Richard Barry, Caskie’s Mounted Rangers, shot by Provost Guard in front of Seabrook’s Warehouse. Taken to Alexander Hospital on Franklin St.
Richmond Enquirer 6/26/1862; man makes a donation to Captain G. W. Alexander for the benefits of the patients in the "Alexander Hospital."
Richmond Dispatch 8/7/1862; enormous new list of prisoners at Castle Godwin, “Castle Godwin Guard House,” & Alexander Hospital.
