*note: National Cemetery, City Point, Va., lists a Frank L. Smith, QM Sgt., Co. C, 1st Connecticut Heavy Artillery. Date of Death - May 4, 1865. Grave #149, Section A, division 3.

The History of the First Connecticut Artillery and of the Siege Trains of the Armies operating against Richmond 1862 - 1865 (Hartford, Conn. 1893), lists the following information:

Note the date of death discrepancy between the cemetery record and the regimental record. Note also that the photograph's LC title says it was taken in April, 1865, yet Sgt. Smith didn't die until May.
