From the Richmond Dispatch, 5/22/1862, p. 2, c. 5

Rather Sudden. – A poor woman, a Mrs. Jeter, came into Assistant Provost Marshal Alexander’s office a short time since, and stated that she was the wife of a soldier, and was sick. It appears she was searching for her husband. Capt. Alexander had her immediately provided for, and in the course of a few hours she gave birth to a fine boy. Mother and child are doing well. The boy has been christened Alexander Jeter.
