DEATH OF A YANKEE OFFICER. – Lieutenant Chalmers, of the
one hundred and forty-sixth New York, who had both his eyes shot out in one of
the recent battles, and who was treated at the Libby prison hospital, died
yesterday from the effects of his terrible injuries, the shot having penetrated
the brain.
