From the Richmond Sentinel, 4/22/1864, p. 1, c. 3Prodigious Leap. – On Tuesday J. C. Ryan, of Company C, 3rd Va. Cavalry, who was confined in the soldiers’ home, corner of Cary and 7th streets, to be sent back to his company, from which he had deserted, jumped out of a third story window, and landing on a shed in the back yard, without receiving any injury, immediately too to his heels and escaped. He was recaptured on yesterday by the detective police, and sent to Castle Thunder. He had a forged furlough in his pocket.
