PRISON ITEMS – Captain G. W. Alexander, Assistant Provost
Marshal, has been ordered to take charge of the Yankee prisoners in Richmond. As
he was once a prisoner himself among the Yankees, he will know how to
reciprocate their treatment of captives. Sixty-one deserters were received at
“Castle Thunder” yesterday.
Lieut. Horne, of Co. E 53d N. C. Regiment, returned last
night from Winchester, to which place he conducted a number of prisoners from
“Castle Thunder,” marching 180 miles with his guard, without losing a prisoner.
