NOTICE.
PROVOST MARSHAL’S
OFFICE,
June 9, 1862.
THE public will take notice that on and after this date
every detective officer authorized to arrest, impress and execute orders issued
from this office will be furnished with a certificate which may be called for as
evidence of his identity as an officer and assurance that while he executes his
duty with firmness and decision, he does it also with courtesy and respect.
