From the Richmond Whig, 4/28/1865
RICHMOND AGAIN TAKEN. - Richmond has had the rare honor of
being taken twice in one campaign, after a resistance of four years - first by
the United States army under General Grant; secondly by an honor of
photographers, who have taken every point and object of interest worth the
taking. The arts of war triumphed first - those of peace afterwards. So with all
the great Generals and officers taken by General Grant. No sooner are they at
liberty upon parole than the lying-in-wait photographer rushes upon them, and
with one shot from his camera folds them up in his portfolio - taken again. Such
is the fate of notoriety.
