From the National Archives, RG 109, Ch. 6, Vol. 364, “Letters Sent & Received, Medical Director’s Office, 1864-65.” p. 110

Medical Director’s Office, June 6 ‘64

Sir:

You are directed to transfer 25 of the patients in Robertson without delay to the Stuart Hos. and not receive into the Hos in future more than 19 – the number you were ordered by the Surgeon Genl to receive.

If such a resolution of orders and disregard for the safety of the sick and wounded occurs again. The Hospital will necessarily be closed as a nuisance.

Very Respectfully
Your Obt. Servt.
